Health Insurance Billing Clerks are responsible for compiling amounts owed to a medical facility and for reviewing and maintaining orders, invoices, and records to ensure accuracy. They also maintain patient payment records. As an entry-level insurance claims clerk, you will be in a position to move up the ladder to success.
The Quick Careers Health Insurance Billing Clerk program consists of a series of courses* designed to prepare students for a career as a Health Insurance Billing Clerk. *Awards of Completion are earned at the successful completion of all of the courses in the program.
Salary Range: $12-$16 per hour
Medical Terminology (75 hours):
This is an introduction to the principles of Medical Terminology for Health Insurance Billing Clerks. This course teaches the meaning and pronunciation of specific medical terms, including prefixes, suffixes, root words, and abbreviations. The student will study body systems and anatomy, medical specialties, etc. Medical Terminology training includes:
Health Insurance Billing & Coding (180 hours):
This is a hybrid course; a combination of 138 hours of face to face classroom instruction and 42 hours of online instruction.
The responsibility for processing health insurance claims requires knowledge of all aspects of medical insurance. Training will include:
