We are pleased to provide you this opportunity to apply for a Continuing Education non-credit course scholarship. Employers in today’s workforce are facing a skills gap, and they need trained and qualified workers to fill a variety of positions. The Continuing Education Program is designed for noncredit students to earn industry-recognized credentials/certifications through an accelerated training schedule. Our scholarship committee will only consider applicants who have registered for at least one of these course by the scholarship application deadline outlined below.
GTCC Corporate and Continuing Education Scholarships require registration and participation in an Occupational Extension course meeting one or more of the selected criteria (SEE LIST OF APPROVED COURSES BELOW)
A course that is classified as high demand and is greater than 96 hours of instruction by the NC Community College System. (Tiers 1A, 1B, 2 Levels)
Course that is offered to meet a specific workforce need in high demand
Course completion carries a recognized third party Industry Certification
Completion of the training could lead to gainful employment within 60 days of completion and third party certification.
Applicants only need to submit ONE application per term (Spring, Summer, Fall) to be considered for a scholarship
Scholarships are granted awards and do not require re-payment unless the terms of the scholarship are violated.
All scholarships are competitive; based on a variety of scholarship criteria established by the Continuing Education Scholarship Committee. (This criteria may vary based upon changes in the workforce needs, alterations in Federal Guidelines, etc.)
Scholarship monies may be used to cover tuition, books, and specific supplies for the requested course (i.e. uniforms).
Continuing Education Scholarship Program will only consider an applicant who has either registered for an approved course or is willing to register for an approved course immediately upon award.
The applicant must meet the eligibility requirements for the training program of choice.

To be considered for this scholarship program, an individual must:
Be a U.S. citizen and a North Carolina resident.
Be in one of the following target groups: unemployment insurance claimants (Provide unemployment printout), unemployed (Provide printout of last wages from NCWorks Center), & underemployed adults (Provide current tax years W2 or copy of filed form 1040) members of the N.C. National Guard, or military veterans and spouses (Provide DD214 or DD2). Note: Underemployed will be defined as individuals earning 200 percent below the federal poverty level. Preference will be given to students with limited or no access to financial aid from other programs.
Be enrolled in a short-term training program (96 hours or more) that leads to a state-regulated or industry-recognized credential that is offered through Continuing Education.
Not be a director, employee or family member of an employee of the State Employees’ Credit Union or SECU Foundation.
Preference will be given to students with limited or no access to financial aid from other programs.
Students will only be awarded one CCE Foundation scholarship within a calendar year

Computer Technology and IT courses (excluding Ed2go courses)
