This comprehensive 100 hour Cardiac Monitor Technician Certification Course prepares students to function as Cardiac Monitor Technicians in the acute healthcare setting. This course will include fundamental information on anatomy and physiology of the heart and cardiovascular system, medical disease processes, medical terminology, medical legal ethics, and communication with other healthcare team members, and intensive ECG monitor strip interpretations. Additionally, students will spend 24 hours participating in the clinical environment working with Cardiac Monitor Technicians.
Cardiac monitor technicians, also known as telemetry technicians, monitor multiple patient’s heart activity and interpret heart rhythms from a central monitoring center covering multiple acute care locations. They play a vital role in the lives of cardiac patients and are a critical member of the health care team.
Employment of cardiac monitor technicians is projected to increase by 22 percent from 2014 to 2024, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Technicians work in settings such as hospitals, and diagnostic medical laboratories. Starting hourly wage is $11.

Do I QUALITFY?
Enrollment for the course will be capped at 10 students to create an intimate learning environment. Students will need to have their high school diploma or equivalent (GED). Experience in the health care field is recommended but not required.
What does this COURSE COST?
The registration fee for this course is $188.00. The required textbook will cost $76.85 including taxes and must be purchased from the Jamestown Campus Bookstore prior to class.
What SPECIAL POLICIES do I need to know?
The attendance policy is very strict. You may be dismissed from the program if you are absent more than once or tardy greater than 3 times during the Theory and Clinical portions of the class. You will be dismissed if you are more than five minutes late or absent during clinical.
You will be given one multiple-choice question final exam. You must score an 80% on the final in order to receive your certificate.
You must be able to accept constructive criticism, control your temper and follow directions carefully.
Disrespectful, interruptive, disruptive, impatient behavior toward the instructors, fellow students, staff or clinical staff will not be tolerated at any time.
You may be dismissed if the Instructor suspects you are a safety risk in clinical.
You may be dismissed if you are caught cheating, suspected of alcohol or drug use on campus or before class.
If you are dismissed from a class for any reason, you are not eligible for a refund.
